Eric Beverly currently serves as Assistant Athletics Director for Football Academics at the University of Texas. In this role, he assists in overseeing a program and staff that provides academic and personal development programming to UT football student-atheltes beginning with recruiting and continuing through graduation and their respective career goals and opportunities.  

Before joining the Longhorn family, he spent nearly five years with the Universityof Georgia athletics program. There, he served as Coordinator of Academics for Football and Academic Counselor for Soccer.  He was responsible for the daily oversight and communication with regard to academic support and performance of all football and soccer student-athletes.  During his stint at Georgia, the football team recorded some of the highest term GPA's in the school's history.  In addition, Georgia ranked top 10 in APR score among the nation's top 25 football teams.

Prior to his service at Georgia, Eric played 10 years in the National Football League.  He began his professional career as an undrafted free agent with the Detroit Lions on April 24, 1997.  After spending 7 seasons with Detroit, Eric joined the Atlanta Falcons and played the position of Tight End for three years before retiring in 2007.

Eric demonstrated his value and versatility on and off the field during his stint in the NFL. He completed the Harvard Business School’s NFL Business Management and Entrepreneurial Program in 2006. His professional off-season experiences included internships with the NFL league office and Kmart Corporation, as well as, an elected term as team representative with the NFL Players Association.

Eric also embraces the community through volunteerism and philanthropy. He champions the cause for breast cancer awareness through his non-profit organization - The Eric R. Beverly Family Foundation.  His charitable efforts have also included the American Red Cross, Gilda’s Club of Metro Detroit and Atlanta, City Mission (Detroit, MI), and Crossroads Ministries (Atlanta, GA).

Eric received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Miami University in 1997.  He was a four-year letterman and team captain for Miami's football team his senior season. He and his wife, Danielle, have one daughter.
